2023 – ARTIFICIO SONORO – Aria Suona Respira

Neunau, in collaboration with the composer Ernesto Tortorella and the accordionist and craftsman Mattia Ducoli, gives life to an original sound performance entitled “Artificio Sonoro: Aria Suona Respira”.

A sound journey among the elements.

At the center of this performance, a pipe organ reconstructed in its essential parts (bellows, windchest and pipes) and a tuning bench for the accordion reeds with pedal bellows, on which the internal elements of the accordion will be visible.
Usually these details are hidden inside the instrument and are part of its construction or maintenance, but in this
performance they come to light becoming the main subject.

The intimate relationship between organ and accordion is revealed as an intense dialogue as both instruments are air-operated and the sound produced is propagated by the air itself.
Sound propagates through the air, but the air itself can generate sound: trapped in dried clay or in willow branches for
wicker weaving, it finds voice.

The three locations chosen for this performance are in relation to the sound elements chosen. A forge with active pneumatic hammers (Fucina Maglio di San Tomaso – Berzo Inferiore), a community center for art
and crafts (Ca’Mon – Monno) and a center for landscape regeneration (Terzo Paesaggio – Chiaravalle) offer an ideal setting for the staging of “Artificio Sonoro”.

“Artificio Sonoro” is in collaboration with the network of “Segno Artigiano” of Valle Camonica involving some artisans who have shared some valuable information for the realization of the performance.
