SUONO VIBRAZIONE MATERIA

This performance explores the interaction between sound, vibration, and matter through a system that converts low-frequency sound waves into movement and visual patterns.

A steel plate, activated by special speakers, vibrates at low frequencies. Various materials, such as sand, powders, stones, and liquids, are placed on its surface. The vibrations cause these materials to react dynamically, creating constantly shifting patterns and textures.

A camera captures this interaction in real time, and the images are projected on a large scale, allowing the audience to observe the evolving visual transformations. The performer’s interaction with the system creates a bodily dialogue, establishing a connection with the vibrating system.

Performance for Bao Sound Experience @ Mita Museo Brescia

This performance is inspired by a field recording experience that I carried out in 2017 for the “sound of concrete” project, in an extraction quarry where, inside the mountain, there was an enormous machine that, grinding the stone, produced a vibrant note. It is precisely this vibration that I reproduce on the plate, creating a direct link between the sound and the matter.
